Operating Instructions
COATS PAX SYSTEM
9024 E-PAX &
9024E PAX Adapter
This manual is written for the tire technician that may not be familiar with the PAX System; therefore,
many individual steps are included such as flipping the tire over to perform most of the critical work
from the top side of the tire. This allows the tire technician to become familiar with the physical design
of the system and better understand the sequence of events required to complete a safe and suc-
cessful PAX tire service.
Once the sequence and physical design is understood by the tire technician, he may accomplish
some of the operations without flipping the tire over; however, it is recommended to follow the instruc-
tions for the first several times. Changing the same tire several times helps in understanding the
sequence but as is typical with conventional tires, a first tire is always much more difficult than one
that has been changed several times.
The tire manufacturer’s recommendations should always be followed when servicing a PAX
tire system; especially when installing the PAX gel to the inside of the tire.
: PAX gel is the lubricant supplied by the tire manufacturer and should not be con-
fused with rubber lubricant. It is very important not to contaminate the PAX gel with rubber
lubricant. Rubber lubricant may allow the gel to reposition and create assembly balance issues.
